Alessio Di Stefano 

Alessio Di Stefano, born in 1983 in Catania, Sicily, began his artistic journey as a dancer, working with several prestigious companies, including Teatro Greco Dance Company, Astra Roma Ballet, European Ballet, Balletto di Milano, Balletto del Sud, and Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, among others.

In 2015, he started his career as a choreographer with the short performance La Fontaine, created for the Junior Company of the Wiener Staatsoper. That same year, the choreography won the Maria Antonietta Berlusconi Award, the Special Silvio Berlusconi Award, and secured a touring contract for gala performances dedicated to Rudolf Nureyev.

Some of his most notable works include: 

  • Moscato, a solo created for Wiener Staatsoper soloist Francesco Costa, performed on major international stages. With this solo, the dancer won the Best Artist Award at the Ballet Varna Competition.
  • In Due Color Full Life, his first full-length production, created for the Arte Danza Catanzaro center and produced by the Armonie d'Arte Festival, performed in the evocative setting of the Scolacium Archaeological Park.
  • Trapped, winner of the Made For You 2018 production award, performed by Eko Dance Project dancers as part of the Palcoscenico Danza festival.
  • Through My Door, a choreographic creation developed thanks to the Made For You production award, featuring original music composed by Maestro Enrico Melozzi and performed by the Orchestra Notturna Clandestina.
  • Chikens Lake, a project for the dancers of Pompea Santoro's Eko Dance Project, staged at Lavanderia a Vapore.
  • Brams Project, where he took on both the roles of choreographer and dancer for the concert of 100 Cellos by Giovanni Sollima and Enrico Melozzi.
  • A MidApril Night Dream, a dance film project entirely created remotely during lockdown, featuring principal dancers from the international dance scene, with music by Maestro Enrico Melozzi. This project also introduced the first virtual platform dedicated to dance film, engaging some of the world's leading choreographers.
  • Forte, a choreography created for CZD2, the young company of Zappalà Danza, supported by the Italian Ministry of Culture (MIC) and SIAE as part of the Per Chi Crea program.


Alessio Di Stefano has also been an associate choreographer at Scenario Pubblico, a National Dance Center of significant cultural interest, where he created a piece titled Light Touch.

Since 2023, he has been leading his own dance training and professional center, where he deepens his choreographic language, known as CED (Connessione Energia Danza).

In 2024, he was commissioned by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to develop the artistic project Centauromachia, which includes three international stages in Greece, Italy, and Ukraine.

Awards & recognition

In 2018, he received the Novara in Danza award as an emerging Italian choreographer.

In 2019, he was honored with the Europa in Danza award as an emerging choreographer.

Training in Italy and Abroad

Alessio places great emphasis on education and training. He is a faculty member and resident choreographer at The Bridge Pigato Contemporary.

Throughout the year, he is invited as a guest teacher for workshops, competitions, and dance festivals.
